But maybe his disappearance will orient people towards focusing on Republicans & MAGA rather than Trump. Trump’s not running again and at some point and we’ll still have to persuade voters and non-voters that our vision for our country and the future is better than MAGA’s. And if we’re really not having more elections and we need another revolution, well we have many heads to cut off.
I have the same thing your friend has: there's never been anyone I hated as much as trump (I can't even write his name with a capital), and I'm not even American (tho I lived in the US from 2013-2021, so I saw all of it happening, including my worst birthday ever where I had to watch with horror how democracy was thrown under the bus in Washington, the 6th of January 2021). And I will absolutely celebrate his death. I'd be willing to start drinking (even tho I do not like alcohol lol) to celebrate. Just as I will celebrate Putin's death, by the way, another person that the world is a whole lot better off without.
Other than that, I do think Vance will be a whole lot worse. trump is derailing their side too. Sure, a lot of awful things are happening, but I think without trump those awful things will happen faster and a lot more structurally, consistently, and permanently than they are now.
Not that the US doesn't deserve to have to start anew (waves in the general direction of the beginnings, the flawed constitution, the flawed voting system, the rampant ignorance and poverty (financially but also in every other way), etc) but I feel for all the people who are at the moment being crushed by it, because the people being crushed by it are very definitely NOT the ones who should be the falling part.....

JD Vance was always the plan. You can laugh at his past, but his positions and comments over the last few years put him very squarely in the Christian nationalist camp at the heart of Project 2025.
Secondly, his unpopularity may not matter depending on how effectively elections can be rigged. That's the point of the gerrymandering fights right now, and Trump taking over the Federal Elections Commission wasn't for show either. Add to that that ES&S holds more than 50% of the market for voting machines despite anomalous data, lack of transparency, and not being testable in real election contexts.

I'm with you on literally ever point made here. When I told people back in 2020 that ending him would save millions of other lives from having to die of covid, I was "too extreme." Here we are, 5 years and OVER 700 MILLION lives lost later...
